Event Confederation sees a cautious ray of hope

Event Confederation sees a cautious bright spot in the dark Corona tunnel, but above all it requires further clarity. Our sector cannot yet prepare for its restart.

The Event Confederation (EC) is satisfied that events are being discussed again and that a first cautious step is being taken. To be able to restart our sector, more and more concrete vision is needed in the longer term.

EC also hopes to be able to take next steps on the basis of capacity and density and not on the basis of nominal steps such as the 50 people outdoor in May, which is not economically viable.

Test events can be important, but the CERM (Covid Event Risk Model) & CIRM (Covid Infrastructure Risk Model) already take a lot of scientific insights into account. The CERM was used more than 50,000 times last year, the CIRM already 100 times. With those insights we can already support decisions that can determine our future.

EC calls on politicians and virologists for further substantive consultation in order to further explore this early perspective in order to finally give clarity to our broad sector at the consultation committee of April 23 about the period after June 1, 2021.10 days later the European Football Championship will start .

Extra support - to which the catering industry also refers - is self-evident. It will not be an ordinary summer, for the 2nd year in a row. That means that for some there will only be activity again in the summer of 2022 (!). The series of cancellations of summer festivals, fairs and sports events are the best proof of this.
