Deep River Historical Society

The Carriage House is a historic venue on the grounds of the Deep River Historical Society in Deep River, Connecticut. Originally built as a barn in 1889, the timber-framed building was adapted over time for horses and later automobiles. The Historical Society renovated its interior in 1991, giving the old structure a new role as a community and event space.

The venue has been promoted for private gatherings such as birthday and anniversary parties, baby showers, reunions and receptions, as well as wedding celebrations using the grounds. Previous rental information describes a function room with a kitchen, tables, chairs, heating and air conditioning, and access to outdoor space. These features have made the Carriage House a distinctive option for organisers seeking a characterful setting rather than a conventional function room. Its historic fabric and position within a museum property also lend the space a strong local sense of place.

Please note that private rentals are currently paused. The Historical Society says the Carriage House is being used for its public programmes and that private rentals are expected to resume after the organisation restructures its rental arrangements. Organisers should therefore check directly with the Society for current availability and updated booking information before making plans. The Society itself remains active, with exhibitions and public events at its Deep River property, but the venue is not presently taking private bookings according to its rental information.
