The Prizery

The Prizery is a historic arts centre in downtown South Boston, Virginia, with several spaces available to rent for weddings, receptions, meetings and other events. Set within a former tobacco warehouse, the building offers a distinctive setting alongside practical facilities for organisers.

The largest option is the banquet hall, which can accommodate more than 350 guests and has an adjacent kitchen with refrigerators and freezers. Tables and chairs are available on request, and the hall is accessible by lift. For wedding ceremonies, receptions or presentations, the Chastain Theatre provides a seated auditorium for more than 240 people, with lighting and sound equipment, a large screen, dressing rooms and an adjoining lobby area.

Smaller gatherings can make use of the art gallery, main lobby, conference room or classrooms. These spaces suit cocktail parties, meet-and-greets, business meetings, workshops and intimate celebrations, with capacities ranging from around 20 to 100 or more depending on the room and layout. The venue also welcomes corporate events, fundraisers, lectures and selected performances.

Couples can hold both their ceremony and reception at The Prizery, with options to use different rooms for the ceremony, drinks reception and meal. Organisers can choose their own caterers and arrange bar service, while the team can discuss room set-up, equipment and other event requirements. With varied room sizes and a setting shaped by local history, The Prizery can accommodate events ranging from a small meeting to a large celebration.
