Alice and George Brown Theater

The Alice and George Brown Theater is a large performance venue within Houston's Wortham Theater Center, in the city's downtown Theater District. With seating for approximately 2,405 guests and a 17,000-square-foot stage, it is designed for productions that need a substantial auditorium, professional performance facilities and room for a large audience. The theatre is primarily used by resident performing arts companies, including Houston Ballet and Houston Grand Opera.

The wider Wortham Center also offers event spaces beyond its two auditoriums. Its public areas include the six-storey Grand Foyer, the Green Room and Founders Salon, providing options for gatherings and receptions alongside events in the theatre. The building has hosted performances as well as galas, corporate functions and group events. Organisers can contact Houston First's booking team to discuss the Brown Theater and the spaces available for a particular event.

The venue may suit organisers planning a large-scale performance, corporate presentation, conference programme, gala or special gathering that calls for a theatre setting. Its downtown location places it within Houston's Theater District, and the booking process begins with an enquiry about the event, date, expected attendance and venue requirements. The venue team can then advise on availability, applications and the arrangements needed to confirm a booking. As space use and suitability depend on the event and schedule, organisers should check requirements directly with the booking team before making plans.
