The Tea Room

The Tea Room is a historic event venue in downtown Des Moines, offering distinctive spaces for weddings, receptions, corporate functions and private celebrations. Its restored sixth-floor setting combines period architectural details with a clean, neutral interior, tall ceilings, large windows and balconies overlooking the city.

The main Tea Room covers 5,175 square feet across the venue's event and guest areas. It can host seated dinners for up to 300 guests or cocktail receptions for up to 425, with a stage, dance floor, built-in sound and AV, projector and screen. Tables, chairs, selected linens, tableware, set-up and clean-up are included. A private Rose Room is available for the wedding party, speakers or other VIP guests, while an adjoining lounge offers space for welcoming guests before the main event.

For more intimate gatherings, the Garden and Jubilee Rooms can be booked together, either on their own or as part of a larger reservation. These rooms suit smaller ceremonies and receptions, rehearsal dinners, showers, business meetings and fundraiser receptions, with capacity depending on the format and layout.

Organisers can bring a licensed caterer of their choice, who can use the venue's commercial kitchen. The Tea Room also provides bartending and service staff, an on-site event manager and layout planning. Its range of settings and practical facilities makes it suitable for wedding celebrations, formal dinners, conferences, seminars, parties, fashion shows and other organised events.
