The Englert Theatre

The Englert Theatre is a historic performance venue in downtown Iowa City that also makes its spaces available to event organisers. Its main auditorium provides a distinctive setting for concerts, live theatre, lectures, readings, film screenings, ceremonies and larger gatherings. With seating on the main floor and in the balcony, it can accommodate events for audiences of up to 715 people. The stage can also be used as a more intimate event space for gatherings of up to 100 guests.

For receptions and smaller functions, the theatre's second-floor lounge offers a flexible alternative. It can seat up to 50 people or host up to 100 standing guests, and includes a kitchen and full-service bar. Lobby areas and two concession bars provide further options for welcoming guests and shaping the event experience. The venue's sound and lighting facilities, dressing rooms, ticketing options and staff support can be useful for organisers planning performances, presentations or celebrations.

The Englert welcomes a broad range of bookings, including weddings, parties, fundraisers, company meetings, graduation ceremonies and dances, as well as cultural and community events. Its historic architecture gives events a characterful setting, while the range of spaces allows organisers to consider different formats, from a seated programme in the auditorium to a reception in the lounge or on stage. Event planners can discuss their requirements with the venue team, including the event type, date and expected guest numbers, and explore which spaces and services best suit their plans.
