The Sands Centre

The Sands Centre is a large entertainment and events venue in Carlisle, available to event planners looking for a flexible setting for performances, business gatherings and community occasions. Its main auditorium can be arranged for different event styles, from seated presentations and conferences to cabaret, dinners, fashion shows and standing events. With capacity for nearly 1,800 people standing or up to 1,400 seated, it can accommodate events on a substantial scale.

The venue hosts live music, theatre, comedy, touring shows and community performances, as well as corporate functions, meetings, seminars and staff away days. Organisers can enquire about dry hire, or ask the in-house team about practical and technical support. Available equipment includes lighting, sound and projection technology, with broadcast facilities for events that need to reach an online audience. Backstage areas include dressing rooms and wardrobe facilities, which can be adapted to suit production requirements.

On-site catering is available for large events, with locally sourced refreshments offered for guests. The venue team can help shape room layouts around the occasion and audience, and can discuss additional services through local business connections. The site is close to Carlisle city centre and the railway station, and provides wheelchair access and accessible facilities. Whether planning a conference, company celebration, live performance or community event, organisers can contact the venue to discuss suitable arrangements and hire options.
