Herbert Knebels Affentheater

Wandastraße 9, 45136 Essen, Germany

Herbert Knebels Affentheater is a cabaret and comedy ensemble from Essen that tours with its own stage shows. At its heart is the character Herbert Knebel, an unconventional man from the Ruhr region whose everyday experiences, views and encounters are brought to the stage with dry wit and plenty of local colour. The performances combine spoken comedy with musical interludes and are aimed at audiences who appreciate pointed entertainment and the unmistakable tone of the Ruhr region.

The current programme is called „Voll Karacho!“. Herbert Knebel takes to the stage alongside Ozzy Ostermann and Ernst Pichel. Three musicians complete the ensemble with live accompaniment, bringing humorous scenes, dialogue and music together for a varied evening. The group regularly performs in municipal halls, theatres and other cultural venues. The website provides organisers with information about the programme and tour dates, as well as an organisers' section and a contact for enquiries.

For event planners, the ensemble is an appealing stage act when a comedy or cabaret evening with regional character is wanted. The performance can be included as a standalone entertainment programme in a cultural event, an evening for guests or a public stage event. The combination of character comedy, music and Ruhr-region humour gives the programme a distinctive identity and creates an entertaining alternation between spoken scenes and musical moments. Enquiries about performance opportunities and organisational details can be sent directly to the ensemble's office.
