The Hilt

The Hilt offers indoor axe-throwing sessions in central York for groups looking for an active, sociable addition to an event or celebration. Organisers can book a coached session for corporate team-building, staff outings, hen and stag parties, birthdays and other special occasions. Private lanes are available for events, while social sessions allow smaller groups to take part alongside other visitors.

The classic session is suitable for beginners and is led by trained instructors. Participants start with guidance and practice, then put their new skills to use in a friendly tournament. There is also the chance to try trick shots, making the experience a mix of instruction, competition and group entertainment. For those who prefer a different format, game sessions offer interactive axe-throwing games across several options, with lanes for smaller groups.

Based on Goodramgate, a short walk from York Minster, The Hilt provides a dedicated indoor setting for the activity. Its event offering is aimed at groups who want an organised experience rather than simply hiring a blank venue. The team welcomes bookings for workplace gatherings as well as private celebrations, and organisers can choose a session type and time through the online booking system. The venue also offers tech darts, but axe throwing is its central group activity.

Whether planning a team outing or a celebration with friends, event planners can arrange a session that gives guests a shared activity, some friendly competition and coaching from the venue team. Private lanes make it possible to keep a group together, while the coached format helps first-time throwers feel comfortable taking part.
