Z Space

Z Space is a performing arts venue in San Francisco's Mission District, with theatre spaces and a lobby available to rent for events. Organisers can enquire about the Steindler Stage, the smaller Z Below theatre, or the lobby, choosing a setting to suit the scale and format of their gathering.

The Steindler Stage is a flexible performance space with seating for around 229 to 236 people. It has professional stage lighting, sound and PA equipment, projection screens, and a sprung floor. A hire of this stage also includes the Z Lobby, giving organisers a space for guests to meet before or after the main programme.

Z Below offers a more intimate theatre environment, with seating for approximately 73 to 85 people depending on the cast and crew. It has sound and PA equipment, a sprung floor, and a small lobby with a bar available for events. The main lobby can also be hired separately. With high ceilings, natural light, a prep kitchen and a full bar, it can host standing gatherings of approximately 125 people. Sound equipment and a movable stage are available at additional cost.

The venue welcomes a range of uses beyond theatre and dance, including community events, staff retreats, holiday parties and other private or organisational gatherings. Z Space asks prospective renters to submit an enquiry and recommends allowing several months' notice, as availability and suitability are considered for each request. The venue is near public transport in the Mission District.
