Is cooperation a natural human trait?

This is the most significant question we have asked since we started Chain Reaction Teambuilding.


Most people are convinced of the importance of cooperation. But… do we collaborate as much as we think we do? Or will we remain in our silos and will there be an “us versus them” feeling?


The assumption is that a group of people will automatically work together for optimal team and organizational performance, innovation and results. Sorry to tell you, but people don't automatically work together in a qualitative manner...


Fortunately, team building can help to achieve high-quality collaboration.


We now have two options for carrying out team building. Or we direct the process and actively ask the participants to work together. Or we do not manage this process and give the participants an end goal.


In the first situation we see that there is indeed cooperation. In the second situation there is usually no cooperation. We call this predictable behavior.
