Without knowing it, Ecco La Luna had the technology to switch to remote events
From one day to the next, team building company Ecco La Luna, like other colleagues from the event sector, saw their agenda empty. Events were canceled or postponed due to COVID-19. Immediately, the Ecco team took action to see how they could still assist their customers in connecting colleagues, especially now that a longer period of remote working was coming for most companies. And you already had that solution partly in house? The solution indeed turned out to be in changing the use of the already in-house technology in which we had invested heavily a few years ago. The online game platform with which, for COVID-19, mainly tailor-made interactive city games and roadbooks for 2CP or bicycle tours, turned out to be the ideal remote activities tool with some adjustments. In collaboration with the global network of licensees, several new remote concepts were developed with the interactive app in combination with the most commonly used video conference software. Where the participants previously played per team on an iPad from Ecco La Luna, they now use their own smartphone in combination with a video meeting in virtual breakout rooms on their tablet or laptop, all from a safe (home) environment. How come you could switch to remote concepts so quickly and have a product ready so quickly? Within the team of Ecco La Luna we have some experts for developing custom games with this interactive app. Together with the global network of licensees, meetings were quickly set up to brainstorm how we could reinvent the app to use for remote games. So, various leading team building companies worldwide have started working together to develop some very strong concepts in a very short time. What makes your remote concepts unique? The Virtual Away Day is the product that is most unique at the moment. Unlike most online quizzes, they play in teams in breakout rooms and in addition to quiz questions, multimedia team assignments are also given. These assignments are then filmed by the team captain and sent via the app to the game master who awards points for those team assignments. At the end of the game, these photos and videos are then shared with the other teams. A great added value of our app and the platform is that we can adapt each game to the wishes of the customer. The timing and content of the game (questions / assignments) and the look & feel of the app are fully customizable. The app works on both iOS and Android and the game has been played and tested more than 200 times worldwide with a lot of positive feedback from the participants. Ecco La Luna is therefore ready to roll out remote events for groups of 5 to 1000 participants at the same time at a very competitive price. Van de ene dag op de andere zag teambuilding-bedrijf Ecco La Luna net als andere collega’s uit de eventsector hun agenda leeglopen. Events werden gecanceld of uitgesteld wegens COVID-19. En die oplossing hadden jullie reeds deels in huis?
De oplossing bleek inderdaad te liggen in het anders gaan inzetten van de reeds in-house technologie waar we enkele jaren terug fors in hadden geïnvesteerd. Het online game-platform waarmee voor COVID-19 vooral op maat gemaakte interactieve stadsspelen en roadbooks voor 2PK of fietstochten mee werden gemaakt, bleek mits wat aanpassingen de ideale tool remote activiteiten. In samenwerking met het globaal netwerk van licentiehouders werden enkele nieuwe remote concepten ontwikkeld met de interactieve app in combinatie met de meest gebruikte video conference software. Waar de deelnemers voorheen per team op een iPad van Ecco La Luna speelden, maken ze nu gebruik van hun eigen smartphone in combinatie met een video-meeting in virtual breakout rooms op hun tablet of laptop en dit alles vanuit een veilige (thuis)omgeving.
Hoe komt het dat jullie zo snel konden omschakelen naar remote concepten en zo snel een product klaar hadden?
Binnen het team van Ecco La Luna hebben we enkele experten voor het ontwikkelen van spelen op maat met deze interactieve app. Samen met het globaal netwerk van licentiehouders, werden snel meetings opgezet om te brainstormen over hoe we de app opnieuw konden uitvinden om te gebruiken voor remote games. Wereldwijd zijn dus verschillende leading teambuilding-bedrijven samen aan de slag gegaan om op erg korte tijd enkele heel sterke concepten uit te werken.
Wat maakt jullie remote concepten uniek?
The Virtual Away Day is het product dat op dit moment het meest uniek is. Anders dan de meeste online quizzen, speelt men in teams in breakout rooms en worden er naast quizvragen ook multimedia team-opdrachten gegeven. Deze opdrachten worden dan door de teamcaptain gefilmd en worden via de app naar de game-master verstuurd die punten toekent voor die team-opdrachten. Op het einde van het spel worden deze foto’s en video’s dan gedeeld met de andere teams. Een grote meerwaarde van onze app en het platform is dat we elk spel kunnen aanpassen naar de wensen van de klant. Zowel de timing en inhoud van het spel (vragen/opdrachten) als de look & feel van de app is volledig aanpasbaar. De app werkt zowel op iOS als Android en het spel werd ondertussen wereldwijd meer dan 200 keer gespeeld en getest met heel wat positieve feedback van de deelnemers.
Ecco La Luna is er dus klaar voor om remote events uit te rollen voor groepen van 5 tot wel 1000 deelnemers tegelijk aan een héél scherpe prijs.
