The Azores: closer to magic than the mainland

Halfway between Europe and America, a group of volcanic islands decided they were simply ridiculously beautiful—and, strangely enough, no one told the public. São Miguel, with its green curves and misty edges, feels more like a movie set than a meeting place.

For three days, we traded conference tables for crater lakes, PowerPoint presentations for ocean views, and Wi-Fi for real connection. Call it team building, call it therapy—it worked.

A soft landing in the middle of nowhere

As soon as we stepped off the plane, the air felt different—softer, saltier, a little strange for those who had been in air conditioning just a few hours earlier. Ponta Delgada doesn't make a grand entrance; it simply whispers, "Take it easy, you're on island time now."

Black cobblestones, friendly greetings, hotels where tranquility and class go hand in hand. By dinnertime, no one was looking at their watch anymore. Fresh fish, local wine, and increasingly louder peals of laughter. Day one: reset successful.

Hydrangeas, craters & silent ghosts

Even the roads here are ostentatious. Endless walls of hydrangeas—blue, pink, and that characteristic "it-rains-here-often" green—lead you upward. At Sete Cidades, two crater lakes mirror each other in emerald and turquoise. Higher up, at Lagoa do Fogo, the silence between the clouds awaits those who deserve the view. No one spoke much—part awe, part oxygen deprivation.

Eating with a heartbeat

On São Miguel, food has a rhythm. Tuna that was still swimming that morning, wines with a hint of sea salt, and cozido slowly cooking in volcanic soil.

The next morning, the Atlantic Ocean was calling—and who can resist? We sailed along the coast, with dolphins boasting and whales stealing the show. Phones away, eyes wide open. Between a toast and a tail slap, everyone knew: this is the meeting we'll remember.

Where steam and soul meet

In Furnas, the earth literally breathes. Steam hisses from the ground, geysers bubble like overenthusiastic baristas, and water boils without fire. The tea? Straight from Europe's only plantation. We drank it hot from the source: a touch earthy, perfectly authentic, definitely not from a hotel buffet. Pure nature, unfiltered.

Why way2events?

Simple. We don't organize trips. We write stories that will be talked about long after the group chat has died down.

• 100% tailor-made – from first flight to last toast.

• Hotels and locations chosen for their soul, not their stars.

The Azores were a welcome break.

A reset.

A reminder of what really matters.

way2events.

We plan the trip. The Azores will take care of the rest.
