Capitole Gent is without a doubt one of the most beautiful Art Deco theatres in the country.

The façade, with its triangular pediment and neoclassical colonnade, dates from 1850, after Belgian independence. In 1932, Geo Hendrickx built a cinema behind this existing façade. After the renovated Capitole opened its doors in 2001, the old hall was expanded with a larger stage and a backstage area beneath the stage. In subsequent years, additional VIP areas and bars were added. In 2008, a stage tower with 48 computer-controlled flywheels was built, and additional rehearsal rooms were added. In 2009, the stage was renovated, and an acoustic orchestra pit was installed beneath the stage, accommodating an orchestra of up to 64 people.

Capitole Ghent is a unique venue for your events, meetings, or conferences. In addition to a spacious auditorium with 1,600 seats and a large stage, the building also houses several large breakout rooms, bars, and a fully finished attic space. Ideal for small gatherings and seminars.

Capitole Gent is located in the easily accessible Ghent South, close to the historic city center.

In the large theater hall, which still exudes the atmosphere of the former Art Deco cinema of the 1930s but is equipped with the latest technical theater gadgets and an impressive stage tower, we welcome you and your clients to our new VIP lounges, VIP bars, the restaurant, our atmospheric attic room, and our annex.
