Blackwater Castle in the village of Castletownroche, North Cork, is the spectacular home of the former Viscount of Fermoy and is available to rent as an authentic medieval Castle experience for Castle weddings and events, private parties, and family gatherings on an exclusive hire / self catering basis. A stunning property occupied by our forefathers for some 10,000 years, Blackwater Castle showcases all of Irish history and pre-history on one site from the Stone Age to the modern era. A sought after location for millenia, previous visitors include Gaelic Chieftains, Norman Lords, Sir Walter Raleigh, Oliver Cromwell, President Michael D. Higgins, and even the King of Pop himself, the late Michael Jackson.

Situated in the beautiful hills of North Cork mid way between Mallow and Fermoy, this medieval castle combines luxury and elegance with heritage and history. Our Coach House banqueting hall can seat over 120 guests while the Castle has 6 spacious, individually styled reception rooms. With beautifully appointed suites (sleeping up to 25 in the Castle with further accommodation for 47 available in the Courtyard), historical tours and extensive activities from falconry displays to fly fishing, Blackwater Castle represents one of Ireland’s more interesting and best preserved medieval castles. Set on a 66 acre estate of mature native Irish trees with a private stretch of the River Awbeg wrapping around the base of this ancient fortress, Blackwater Castle is available as a self catering rental or with a diverse range of catering options.
