The Hive at Busy Bee

The Hive at Busy Bee is a private event venue in Indianola, Iowa, between Indianola and Des Moines. Set on landscaped grounds beside a garden centre, it offers a countryside setting for weddings, receptions, charity events and corporate gatherings. The venue has more than 8,000 square feet of indoor event space and outdoor areas for ceremonies, entertaining and photographs, with room for up to 300 guests.

The main hall is a flexible space with a neutral black-and-white look, vaulted ceilings and custom lighting, giving organisers scope to add their own colours and decorations. The building is arranged on one level, and a loft overlooking the hall can be used for additional seating, photography or a DJ setup. Outside, the grounds include covered porch areas and three arbors for wedding ceremonies.

Wedding parties have access to a bridal suite with dressing space, a private bathroom and hair and make-up stations, as well as a separate groom's lounge with seating and an outdoor patio. Tables and chairs are available for indoor and outdoor use. For food service, organisers can bring a licensed caterer of their choice, with access to a dedicated kitchen, walk-in cooler and caterer entrance. The venue also offers staffed bar service, with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink options.

Bookings are available on selected days and seasons, with single-day and full-weekend options, plus add-ons for rehearsal dinners and dress rehearsals. Venue hire includes set-up and pack-down of tables and chairs, bar staff, post-event cleaning and security. Organisers can enquire about a tour and check availability before booking. The Hive is a venue rather than a catering provider, so event planners can choose their own licensed caterer and other event suppliers.
