The building's total occupancy limit is 250, subject to room layouts and the venue's current rules.

Old Town Hall operates as a do-it-yourself venue. Organisers should plan to provide and manage the people and equipment needed for set-up, event operation and clear-up. Food and drink are permitted, provided caterers meet the relevant licensing requirements. Alcohol service requires the appropriate one-day liquor licence. The building is accessible, with an entrance ramp and lift access between floors. Heating is available, but there is no air conditioning.

The City of Salem handles rental enquiries and provides event information, rates, terms and availability details. Derby Square, the public space outside the building, is not part of the indoor hire and requires a separate permit and fee.
