The Hippodrome Theater

The Hippodrome Theater offers distinctive event spaces in Richmond's historic Jackson Ward, combining the character of a restored theatre with settings for weddings, corporate functions and private celebrations. Organisers can choose from several spaces, including the main theatre, the Speakeasy, its balcony and the Screening Room. The adjoining Speakeasy Grill also provides options for private dining and smaller gatherings, including an upstairs room suited to intimate dinners.

The spaces vary in size and atmosphere, from the theatre's stage, dance floor and balcony to more intimate rooms with lounge-style seating and a private bar. This range gives planners options for receptions, dinners, parties, reunions, galas and business events. The setting draws on the area's cultural history and the building's theatrical heritage, with period-inspired details that give events a strong sense of place.

Event support includes a dedicated site coordinator, set-up and breakdown time, tables, chairs and linens, professional lighting and sound, large screens and bar service. Custom catering menus are available, and approved outside caterers may also be considered. Organisers can discuss bar packages, room layouts and additional options such as valet service when planning their event. Nearby parking is available within walking distance.

With event bookings offered throughout the week, the Hippodrome is a venue option for planners seeking a historic Richmond location with both large-scale character and smaller, more private spaces. Its dedicated wedding information and reception options also make it relevant for couples planning a ceremony celebration or wedding reception.
