17th Street Market

17th Street Market is a historic public venue in Richmond's Shockoe Bottom, managed by the City of Richmond's Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities. With a long connection to the city's trading and community life, it offers organisers an outdoor setting for events that bring local residents, visitors, vendors and performers together.

The market hosts festivals, music, art, educational activities and farmers' market programming. Organisers can enquire about using the site for larger events, while vendors can contact the market team about taking part in its programmes. The venue is suited to public-facing occasions such as community celebrations, market days, cultural events and live entertainment, as well as other gatherings that benefit from a central, open-air location.

The City provides information about event requests, permits and the rules for activities on public property. Larger events may require an application, and organisers should check the relevant requirements and plan ahead with the city's special events team. Site hire and event arrangements are handled through the city, rather than through a private venue operator.

Located at 100 North 17th Street, the market is close to public parking options and the surrounding businesses of Shockoe Bottom. Its established identity as a public gathering place gives events a distinctly local backdrop, with space for organisers to develop programming around food, makers, culture, music or community participation. For availability, vendor participation and event-use enquiries, organisers can contact the City of Richmond through its Parks and Recreation channels.
