Newbattle Abbey College

Newbattle Abbey College offers event planners a choice of distinctive spaces within a historic estate in Midlothian, surrounded by woodland and parkland. The venue welcomes corporate and community groups as well as couples and families planning a celebration. Its rooms can be hired for meetings, workshops, training sessions, conferences, private dinners and other gatherings, with full-day and half-day options and shorter bookings available by arrangement.

Spaces range from intimate rooms suited to small board meetings to larger settings for presentations, receptions and celebrations. The Drawing Room, Edwin Muir Room, Crypt, Chapel and other spaces each have their own character. Many rooms have natural daylight, Wi-Fi and audio-visual equipment, while breakout areas can be used for refreshments or informal sessions. Complimentary parking is available, and the estate is accessible from Edinburgh and other parts of central Scotland.

Catering can be arranged to suit the occasion, from refreshments and working lunches to dinners. Residential event packages are also available, with on-site accommodation and meals for multi-day conferences, retreats and training programmes. For weddings, the Abbey provides a historic setting with ceremony and reception spaces, including its chapel and heritage rooms. The events team can discuss room choices and arrangements with organisers.

Private celebrations can include birthdays, anniversaries, naming ceremonies and memorial gatherings. Afternoon tea and filming enquiries are also catered for. Income from venue hire supports the college's educational work and the care of its historic buildings and grounds, so organisers can hold an event in a distinctive setting while contributing to the college's wider mission.
