Lake Merritt Dance Organizer's Foundation, inc.

Lake Merritt Dance provides affordable room hire for dance, movement and music groups at the Veterans Memorial Building in Oakland. The non-profit organisation manages access to the building and offers six spaces for organisers seeking a regular home for classes, rehearsals, workshops or community programmes.

The rooms range in size and capacity. The ballroom accommodates up to 315 people and covers approximately 4,000 square feet, while Hall 1 holds up to 200 people. The Lounge can host up to 120, and Hall 2 and the multi-purpose room each accommodate up to 62. Hall 3 offers another option for smaller groups, with capacity for up to 53 people. Room availability varies by day, and organisers can enquire about rates and suitable times through the rental form.

Weekly bookings receive priority. Smaller rooms have a two-hour minimum hire, while larger rooms are rented by the evening. Set-up and breakdown time are included in the booking slot, and renters must arrange insurance. The organisation is particularly interested in long-term dance programme bookings, with some priority availability listed for the ballroom.

Located at 200 Grand Avenue, the venue brings together a range of community dance groups and styles. Its rooms offer organisers a practical base for activities that need space to move, teach and gather, with different capacities to suit both smaller classes and larger social dance sessions. Prospective renters can contact Lake Merritt Dance to discuss their programme, room requirements and availability.
