National Railway Museum

The National Railway Museum offers a distinctive setting in York for organisers planning conferences, business events and celebrations. Its hireable spaces range from bright, well-equipped rooms in a dedicated conference centre to large halls surrounded by historic locomotives and railway carriages.

The Mallard Suite and Rocket Room can be used separately or joined for conferences, meetings, presentations and workshops. The rooms provide audiovisual facilities, Wi-Fi and adjoining areas for breaks, catering or networking. For larger gatherings, the Great Hall can host receptions among iconic railway exhibits, while Station Hall provides a dramatic backdrop for dinners, awards ceremonies and corporate celebrations. The museum also has smaller options, including a restored railway carriage for private dining and intimate meetings.

The venue welcomes wedding receptions as well as private parties and milestone celebrations. Organisers can discuss event requirements with the museum's events team, arrange a visit and request a tailored package. On-site catering is provided by Restaurant Associates, and the team can recommend suppliers for services such as audiovisual production, decoration and entertainment. Organisers are welcome to use their own suppliers for most other services.

Located close to York station, the museum is convenient for guests travelling by rail. Accessibility, room arrangements and available spaces can be discussed when planning, as the museum's ongoing masterplan works may affect which areas are offered. With its combination of flexible event rooms and railway heritage, the National Railway Museum provides a memorable York location for both professional gatherings and social occasions.
