Kay Barnes Grand Ballroom (2501)

The Kay Barnes Grand Ballroom is a large, adaptable venue within the Kansas City Convention Center, suited to organisers planning conferences, conventions, receptions, banquets and weddings. Its main space can be arranged as one expansive room or divided into three sections, giving planners options for different guest numbers and event formats. In its largest listed configuration, the ballroom covers 46,848 square feet. The connected conference facilities offer additional rooms for breakout sessions and related activities.

A 38-foot-high glass wall brings in natural light and frames views towards the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts and the southern skyline. The ballroom also opens onto an outdoor plaza, providing an adjoining setting for guest arrivals, breaks or parts of a programme. A controllable daylighting system lets organisers adjust the natural light as the day progresses.

For conferences, the venue publishes layouts for theatre, classroom, banquet, conference, hollow-square and U-shaped seating, along with downloadable maps and CAD files to support planning. The ballroom's largest listed arrangement accommodates up to 3,900 in theatre style, 2,000 classroom-style or 3,000 for a banquet. The convention centre's wedding information also features the Grand Ballroom for ceremonies and receptions, highlighting its skyline views and lighting options.
