Eighty years old, but more energetic than ever. As a music and events temple, the Antwerp Sportpaleis no longer needs an introduction. Since the takeover in 1997, the hall has experienced its second youth and has become the 'place to be' for anyone who wants to experience large-scale events without any worries.
Contemporary, trendsetting and full of dynamism. These are words that certainly apply to the Antwerp Sportpaleis. The event hall was brought into the 21st century with major construction activities. A major renovation inside, a new front building, the opening of the Hospitality Center as a permanent VIP reception area and in 2010 the conversion of the famous green roof into a blue-tinted energy roof gave the building a completely new look.
The hall was given a lot of attention because of the dynamism with which it became an established value in the event landscape in no time. The operators presented themselves as a reliable partner who thinks along with organizers and offers excellent service in all areas. An approach that pays off. Today the Antwerps Sportpaleis is a household name and the hall is in the news in a positive way far beyond the national borders. Pollstar, the world's largest source of international concert information, even named the Antwerp Sportpaleis as the third most popular concert arena in the world.
Every year, about 200 events take place in Sportpaleis and Lotto Arena, which are visited by more than 1,300,000 people.

Tachtig jaar oud, maar energieker dan ooit. Als muziek- en evenemententempel heeft het Antwerps Sportpaleis geen introductie meer nodig. Sinds de overname in 1997 beleeft de zaal haar tweede jeugd en werd zij de 'place to be' voor iedereen die onbezorgd grootschalige evenementen wil beleven.
Eigentijds, trendsettend en vol dynamiek. Het zijn woorden die beslist op het Antwerps Sportpaleis toepasbaar zijn. Met grootse bouwactiviteiten werd de evenementenhal de 21ste eeuw binnengeloodst. Een flinke opknapbeurt binnen, een nieuwe voorbouw, de opening van het Hospitality Center als permanente VIP-ontvangstruimte en in 2010 ook de ombouw van het bekende groene dak naar een blauwgetint energiedak gaven het gebouw een compleet nieuwe aanblik.
Aanzien kreeg de zaal vooral door de dynamiek waarmee zij in een mum van tijd een gevestigde waarde werd in het evenementenlandschap. De uitbaters wierpen zich op als een betrouwbare partner die met organisatoren meedenkt en op alle vlak een uitstekende service biedt. Een aanpak die loont. Vandaag is het Antwerps Sportpaleis een begrip en komt de zaal tot ver buiten de landsgrenzen op een positieve manier in het nieuws. Pollstar, 's werelds grootste bron voor internationale concertinformatie, riep het Antwerps Sportpaleis zelfs uit tot derde populairste concertarena ter wereld.
Jaarlijks vinden in Sportpaleis en Lotto Arena samen een 200-tal evenementen plaats, die door meer dan 1.300.000 personen worden bezocht.

Sportpaleis Group starts a new chapter today with a complete rebranding and name change. The new name be•at better reflects the charge that Belgium's largest live entertainment group currently stands for in the field of room operation or venue management.
Sportpaleis Antwerpen , Lotto Arena , Stadsschouwburg Antwerpen , Capitole Gent , Vorst Nationaal , Trixxo Arena Hasselt , Trixxo Theater Hasselt and Proximus Pop-up Arena will have a more distinct identity and will be linked by the parent brand be•at. The rebranding is accompanied by a strong ambition to grow, improve customer service and an absolute priority for sustainable business. For example, the group will continue to focus on the pop-up location(s) and is committed to drastically reducing the ecological footprint.
be•at: visitors and venues more in the spotlight
“The new name is a direct call to join us and experience moments together that will last a lifetime. The inspiration for the new visual identity is the energetic movement of the masses, the pull of the artist, the music and the collective heartbeat of the audience. It is this movement and emotion that form the basis of the new name and visual identity of our organization”, says Jan Van Esbroeck, CEO of be•at.
“Our starting point was to translate the collective magic of a live experience into an energetic visual system that worked for both the group and the iconic halls,” says Sebastien Greffe, Creative Director of WeWantMore, the Antwerp design studio that developed the rebranding.
The group will be given a new name, the venues will have their own identity more than ever and will come to the fore more prominently. With even more attention to the visitor, who will be approached in a more personal way. For example, before a performance or a theater performance, communication will be from the venue itself and no longer from the group. The customer experience center is also being further expanded. For inspiration and relaxation, the group has created its own theater magazine. A podcast series is in the works.
Loyal fans will soon be able to enjoy a loyalty program, which be•at will launch later this year. There will be a fast lane (quick access to the room), they will have access to a lounge or bar, to presales, free tickets and discounts on VIP experiences.
Increase Gross National Happiness
“The goal of our organization is and will always be to increase Gross National Happiness by bringing people of all ages and origins together in collective, magical experiences,” says Jan Van Esbroeck. “The timing for the rebranding was not chosen by chance and provides extra dynamics after two special years. In the next eight months alone, there are almost 600 events on the calendar within the group. We have professionalized ourselves enormously in recent years, which allows us to organize large-scale events that contribute to the general well-being of society.”
In addition, be•at will further expand its team of enthusiastic employees and create new 'out-of-the-box' locations. The Proximus Pop-up Arena in Middelkerke last summer was a great success and will run for at least another two years. The group now wants to continue on that momentum.
Corporate Social Responsibility
With its new name, Be•at also expresses a stronger commitment against global warming. The organization wants to reduce its CO2 emissions by focusing even more on sustainable transport and the 'last mile to the arena', which means that you can reach the venues with mobility solutions other than by car.
A lot of results have already been achieved in recent years. The combination ticket in particular – the concert ticket that gives free access to public transport – has resulted in an increase of more than 50% of the visitors who move to the venues in a sustainable way. The ambition is to increase this figure to 60% by 2025.
Be•at wants to map out its ecological footprint in detail and has therefore started with zero measurements. Energy consumption is an important point of attention and the switch to renewable energy has started. For example, there are already 1600 solar panels on the roofs of Trixxo and Lotto Arena. In Lotto Arena this is good for 50% of the full daily consumption, in Trixxo Arena it is good for the full 100%.
A strict waste policy with a focus on the circular economy is also being worked on. Be•at is sitting at the table with the Belgian festivals to outline this from the sector. Much attention is also paid to efficient water consumption and water recuperation.
As of today, the new name and logo will be rolled out on and in the venues.

De rebranding gaat gepaard met een forse ambitie om te groeien, de klantenservice te verbeteren en een absolute prioriteit voor duurzaam ondernemen. Zo zal de groep verder inzetten op de pop-uplocatie(s) en engageert zij zich tot het drastisch verkleinen van de ecologische voetafdruk.

“De nieuwe naam is een directe oproep om erbij te zijn en samen momenten te beleven die een leven lang bijblijven. De inspiratie voor de nieuwe visuele identiteit is de energieke beweging van de massa, de aantrekkingskracht van de artiest, de muziek en de collectieve hartslag van het publiek. Het is die beweging en emotie die aan de basis liggen van de nieuwe naam en visuele identiteit van onze organisatie”, vertelt Jan Van Esbroeck, CEO van be•at.
“Ons uitgangspunt was de collectieve magie van een live ervaring vertalen naar een energetisch visueel systeem, dat zowel werkte voor de groep als de iconische zalen", vertelt Sebastien Greffe, Creative Director van WeWantMore, de Antwerpse designstudio die de rebranding uitwerkte.
De groep krijgt dan wel een nieuwe naam, de venues krijgen meer dan ooit hun eigen identiteit en zullen prominenter op de voorgrond treden. Met nog meer aandacht voor de bezoeker, die op een meer persoonlijke manier benaderd zal worden. Zo zal er voor een optreden of een theatervoorstelling vanuit de venue zelf gecommuniceerd worden en niet langer vanuit de groep. Ook het customer experience center wordt verder uitgebouwd. Voor inspiratie en ontspanning heeft de groep een eigen theatermagazine gecreëerd. Een podcastreeks is in de maak.
De trouwe fans zullen binnenkort dan weer kunnen genieten van een loyaliteitsprogramma, dat be•at later dit jaar lanceert. Er komt een fast lane (snelle toegang tot de zaal), ze krijgen toegang tot een lounge of bar, tot presales, gratis tickets en kortingen op VIP ervaringen.
Bruto Nationaal Geluk verhogen
“Het doel van onze organisatie is en zal altijd blijven om het Bruto Nationaal Geluk te verhogen door mensen van alle leeftijden en welke afkomst dan ook samen te brengen in collectieve, magische ervaringen”, vertelt Jan Van Esbroeck. “De timing voor de rebranding is niet toevallig gekozen en zorgt voor een extra dynamiek na twee bijzondere jaren. Alleen al in de volgende acht maanden staan er binnen de groep bijna 600 evenementen op de kalender. We hebben ons de afgelopen jaren enorm geprofessionaliseerd, wat ons toelaat om grootschalige evenementen te organiseren die bijdragen aan het algemene welzijn van de maatschappij”.
Daarnaast zal be•at zijn team van enthousiaste medewerkers verder uitbreiden en nieuwe ‘out-of-the-box’ locaties creëren. De Proximus Pop-up Arena in Middelkerke vorige zomer was een groot succes, en loopt nog minstens twee jaar. De groep wil nu verdergaan op dat elan.
Maatschappelijk verantwoord ondernemen
Be•at spreekt met zijn nieuwe naam ook een versterkt engagement tegen de klimaatopwarming uit. De organisatie wil zijn CO2-uitstoot verminderen door nog meer in te zetten op het duurzaam vervoer en de ‘last mile to the arena’, wat betekent dat je met andere mobiliteitsoplossingen dan de wagen tot aan de venues geraakt.
Er zijn al heel wat resultaten geboekt de laatste jaren. Vooral het combiticket – het concertticket dat gratis toegang geeft tot het openbaar vervoer – heeft gezorgd voor een stijging tot meer dan 50% van de bezoekers die zich op een duurzame manier verplaatsen naar de venues. De ambitie is om dit cijfer op te krikken tot 60% tegen 2025.
Be•at wil haar ecologische voetafdruk gedetailleerd in kaart brengen en is daarvoor gestart met nulmetingen. Energieverbruik is een belangrijk aandachtspunt en de ommeslag naar hernieuwbare energie is ingezet. Zo liggen er nu al 1600 zonnepanelen op de daken van Trixxo en Lotto Arena. In Lotto Arena is dat goed voor 50% van het volledige dagverbruik, in Trixxo Arena goed voor de volle 100%.
Ook wordt er gewerkt aan een strikt afvalbeleid met een focus op circulaire economie. Be•at zit aan tafel met de Belgische festivals om dit vanuit de sector uit te tekenen. Veel aandacht gaat ook naar efficiënt waterverbruik en waterrecuperatie.
Vanaf vandaag zullen de nieuwe naam en het nieuwe logo uitgerold worden op en in de venues.

The big thanksgiving party for the care employees, the 'Thanks edition for the Care' of Night of the Proms, can finally take place! On Thursday 26, Friday 27 and Saturday 28 May 2022, more than 40,000 healthcare employees will be able to enjoy performances by, among others, in the Antwerp Sportpaleis. Axelle Red, Stan van Samang, Willy Sommers, Mama's Jacket and Sandra Kim. Meanwhile, Laura Tesoro was also added to the line-up. The presenter is Kürt Rogiers. The 'Thank you for the care' evenings were announced to thank the Flemish care providers and volunteers from the vaccination centers for their enormous commitment during the pandemic. Originally two evenings, but due to the enormous demand for tickets, the past period was used to look for additional financing. As a result, a third show on Thursday 26 May has been added to the concert series.
“The good news is that we have now found funding for three shows, but there are still thousands of people on the waiting list for a possible fourth show on Sunday afternoon. We must therefore continue to hope for support from individuals and companies," said Jan Vereecke, producer of Night of the Proms. "We hope to be able to capture the fourth show as soon as possible. We are extremely grateful to our caregivers and volunteers for their efforts, and now also for their patience. Every care worker is asked the small ticket price of eight euros. These will be converted into two drink vouchers at the concert itself. Presentator van dienst is Kürt Rogiers.De ‘Dankeditie voor de zorg’-avonden werden aangekondigd om de Vlaamse zorgverleners en vrijwilligers van de vaccinatiecentra te bedanken voor hun enorme inzet tijdens de pandemie. Oorspronkelijk twee avonden maar vanwege de enorme vraag naar tickets werd van de afgelopen periode gebruikt gemaakt om extra financiering te zoeken. Daardoor is een derde show op donderdag 26 mei toegevoegd aan de concertreeks.
“Het goede nieuws is dat we intussen financiering gevonden hebben voor drie shows, maar er staan nog duizenden mensen te popelen op de wachtlijst voor een eventuele vierde show op zondag namiddag. We moeten dus blijven hopen op steun van particulieren en bedrijven", aldus Jan Vereecke, producent van Night of the Proms. "We hopen zo snel mogelijk de vierde show te kunnen vastleggen. We zijn onze zorgverleners en vrijwilligers uitermate dankbaar voor hun inzet, en nu ook nog eens voor hun geduld. Iedereen die reeds een ticket kocht of op de wachtlijst staat, krijgt in elk geval vandaag per mail meer informatie via Tele Ticket Service."

Aan elke zorgmedewerker wordt de kleine ticketprijs van acht euro gevraagd. Deze worden op het concert zelf omgezet naar twee drankbonnen. Om deze concerten gefinancierd te krijgen, worden er donaties gezocht bij bedrijven en particulieren. De organisatie doet dan ook een warme oproep. Een gift groot of klein maakt een vierde show op zondag mogelijk. Scan het hartje of stort een bijdrage via deze link. Er werden sponsoringpaketten uitgewerkt voor bedrijven die mee willen instappen. Despite code red, the corona barometer already allows some indoor activities. The so-called non-dynamic activities – events with an exclusively seated audience – are once again possible. This means that the scheduled basketball matches of Telenet Antwerp Giants in the Lotto Arena can continue. The Disney on Ice skating spectacle can also take place from February 18 in Forest National and from February 23 in the Lotto Arena. Meanwhile, Andrea Bocelli on March 5 reconfirms his concert in the Sportpaleis, just like Bart Peeters on February 19 in the Stadsschouwburg Antwerp and Gers Pardoel on March 5 in the Lotto Arena. The Trixxo Theater in Hasselt opens on March 4 with 'K3 Kom Erbij'. Kommil Foo will kick off on 12 and 13 February in Capitole Gent.
What exactly does code red mean?
Indoor activities can take place again in 'code red'. Non-dynamic activities – meaning with an exclusively seated audience – are possible again. Depending on the ventilation and thus the air quality, 70% of the visitor capacity is allowed. Of course, the existing measures such as the Covid Safe Ticket Plus (CST +) and the mouth mask continue to apply.
Sportpaleis Group reassures everyone who has tickets for a concert or performance. "We are doing everything we can to review the practical feasibility of 'code red' for each concert or performance as soon as possible in consultation with our promoters and organizers. For the time being, it remains to be seen for events with a standing audience and/or that are complete. sold out," explains Jan Van Esbroeck.
"We make every effort to inform visitors"
"It is difficult at this time to make a general statement about all planned events. We therefore advise everyone to consult our websites and the help center. Ticket buyers will be informed of any change by e-mail," said Kristel Lissens , Head of Ticketing at Sportpaleis Group. "We make every effort to inform visitors per event. “After an uncertain and difficult time, things are looking good again for our visitors, promoters and artists. We hope to go to code orange on the corona barometer soon so that we can get back to work and do what we are good at: bringing people together for a fun, pleasant time. Everyone has deserved that in the meantime," concludes Jan Van Esbroeck.
De lancering van de coronabarometer betekent dat ook de zalen van Sportpaleis Group opnieuw open kunnen voor concerten en voorstellingen. In code rood is dat enkel met een zittend publiek, maar de verwachting is dat deze beperking snel zal worden opgeheven. "We zijn absoluut tevreden opnieuw artiesten en bezoekers te mogen ontvangen", zegt CEO Jan Van Esbroeck. “Eindelijk mogen we opnieuw samenkomen en genieten van sport, muziek en theater.”
De coronabarometer laat ondanks code rood wel al wat binnenactiviteiten toe. De zogenaamde niet-dynamische activiteiten – evenementen met een uitsluitend zittend publiek – zijn opnieuw mogelijk. Dit betekent dat de geplande basketbalwedstrijden van Telenet Antwerp Giants in de Lotto Arena kunnen doorgaan. Ook het schaatsspektakel Disney on Ice vanaf 18 februari in Vorst Nationaal en vanaf 23 februari in de Lotto Arena kan plaatsvinden. Andrea Bocelli op 5 maart herbevestigt intussen zijn concert in het Sportpaleis, net als Bart Peeters op 19 februari in Stadsschouwburg Antwerpen en Gers Pardoel op 5 maart in de Lotto Arena. Het Trixxo Theater in Hasselt opent op 4 maart met ‘K3 Kom Erbij’. Kommil Foo bijt op 12 en 13 februari de spits af in Capitole Gent.
Wat houdt code rood precies in?
In 'code rood' kunnen opnieuw binnenactiviteiten plaatsvinden. Niet-dynamische activiteiten – wat betekent met een uitsluitend zittend publiek – zijn weer mogelijk. Afhankelijk van de ventilatie en dus de luchtkwaliteit is 70% van de bezoekerscapaciteit toegelaten. Uiteraard blijven de bestaande maatregelen zoals het Covid Safe Ticket Plus (CST+) en het mondmasker van toepassing.
Sportpaleis Group stelt iedereen die tickets heeft voor een concert of voorstelling gerust. "We doen er alles aan om in overleg met onze promotoren en organisatoren zo snel mogelijk per concert of voorstelling de praktische haalbaarheid van 'code rood' te bekijken. Voorlopig blijft het nog even afwachten voor evenementen met een staand publiek en/of die volledig zijn uitverkocht", licht Jan Van Esbroeck toe.
"We stellen alles in het werk om bezoekers te informeren”
"Het is moeilijk om op dit ogenblik een algemene uitspraak te doen over alle geplande evenementen. We raden daarom iedereen aan om onze websites en het helpcenter te raadplegen. Ticketkopers worden van elke wijziging via e-mail op de hoogte gebracht", aldus Kristel Lissens, Head of Ticketing bij Sportpaleis Group. "We stellen alles in het werk om per evenement bezoekers te informeren. Je hoeft hiervoor zelf geen actie te ondernemen."
“Het ziet er na een onzekere en moeilijke tijd voor onze bezoekers, promotoren en artiesten opnieuw goed uit. We hopen snel naar code oranje te gaan op de coronabarometer zodat we terug volledig aan de slag kunnen en doen waar we goed in zijn: mensen samenbrengen voor een leuke, aangename tijd. Dat heeft intussen iedereen wel dik verdiend", besluit Jan Van Esbroeck.

Since the introduction of the corona barometer, events with a seated audience can again take place under strict conditions in the Sportpaleis, the Lotto Arena, Vorst Nationaal and Trixxo Arena Hasselt. “Obviously this is a step forward for our affected venues, our visitors and concert promoters”, says Jan Van Esbroeck, CEO of the Sportpaleis Group. “On the other hand, doing business continues with the handbrake on. The planned concerts with a standing audience are in danger of being canceled or rescheduled. After two years, this situation is gradually becoming hopeless.”
“You cannot experience pop music and nightlife sitting down”
Sportpaleis Group therefore supports the request of the Belgian concert and nightlife sector to solve the last restrictions. “We have been struggling from one corona wave to another for almost two years now. That takes its toll on just about all sections of our society, but no sector has been confronted with closure as often as the concert and nightlife sector. The recently introduced barometer makes this painfully clear once again: where a lot of relaxation is already possible for a seated audience in code red, indoor concerts and nightlife will still remain prohibited," according to the sector.
“In code red, our halls and clubs are still closed to a standing audience. We are 'allowed' to open to a seated audience, but that is not only a very loss-making model for most concert halls and clubs, it also ignores the soul of what we do”, it sounds.
“You cannot experience pop music and nightlife sitting down. It is a total experience that touches people right down to their little toes. It gives an energy boost that contributes to the mental resistance of the artist, the audience and the employees. And that seems to us to be exactly what the community desperately needs in these times.”

Sportpaleis Group, exploitant van vier arena's, sluit zich vandaag aan bij de gezamenlijke oproep van de Belgische concert- en nightlifesector om de deuren meteen te kunnen openen voor een staand publiek. “We bloeden ons laatste bloed, nu nog wachten met stelpen is schuldig verzuim. We vragen met aandrang om niet langer te wachten en om op 12 februari naar code oranje te schakelen. Elke week telt!”, klinkt het.
In het Sportpaleis, de Lotto Arena, Vorst Nationaal en Trixxo Arena Hasselt kunnen sinds het invoeren van de coronabarometer onder strenge voorwaarden opnieuw evenementen met een zittend publiek plaatsvinden. “Uiteraard is dit een stap vooruit voor onze getroffen zalen, onze bezoekers en concertpromotoren”, zegt Jan Van Esbroeck, CEO van de Sportpaleis Group. “Anderzijds blijft het ondernemen met de handrem op. De geplande concerten met een staand publiek dreigen geannuleerd of opnieuw verplaatst te worden. Na twee jaar wordt deze situatie stilaan uitzichtloos.”
“Popmuziek en nightlife kan je niet zittend beleven”
Sportpaleis Group steunt daarom de vraag van de Belgische concert- en nightlifesector om de laatste restricties te lossen. “Al bijna twee jaar sukkelen we van de ene coronagolf naar de andere. Dat eist zijn tol in zowat alle geledingen van onze maatschappij, maar geen enkele sector werd zo vaak met sluiting geconfronteerd als de concert- en nightlifesector. De onlangs in voege getreden barometer maakt dat nogmaals pijnlijk duidelijk: waar er voor een zittend publiek ook in code rood al heel wat versoepelingen mogelijk zijn, blijven indoor concerten en nightlife nog verboden”, aldus de sector.
“In code rood zijn onze zalen en clubs voor een staand publiek nog dicht. We ‘mogen’ wel open voor een zittend publiek, maar dat is voor de meeste concertzalen en clubs niet enkel een erg verlieslatend model, het gaat ook voorbij aan de ziel van wat we doen”, klinkt het.
“Popmuziek en nightlife kan je niet zittend beleven. Het is een totaalervaring die mensen raakt tot in hun kleine teen. Het geeft een energieboost die bijdraagt tot de mentale weerstand van zowel de artiest, het publiek als de medewerkers. En dat lijkt ons precies wat de gemeenschap in deze tijden broodnodig heeft.”

“Als we nu horen zeggen dat we tegen eind februari mogelijk naar code oranje kunnen evolueren, verliezen we weer enkele cruciale weken in wat in normale tijden de drukste periode van het concert– en clubbingseizoen is. De steeds vooruitgeschoven timing van de barometer wurgt momenteel de concert- en nightlifesector. We bloeden ons laatste bloed, nu nog wachten met stelpen is schuldig verzuim. We vragen met aandrang om niet langer te wachten en om op 12 februari naar code oranje te schakelen. Elke week telt!”
“Kortom: na de Week van de Belgische Muziek (31 januari - 6 februari) willen we de deuren van onze concertzalen en nachtclubs terug wagenwijd openzwaaien. Dat is de beste garantie voor een levendige toekomst van iedereen in onze sector. We zijn de laatste in de rij maar onze tijd is nu écht gekomen.”

After the three theaters of Sportpaleis Group, the first arena also opened its doors last weekend. The last Belgian shows of K3 with Klaasje took place in the Lotto Arena. The latest announced relaxations mean that the Sportpaleis, the largest and most well-known concert hall in the country, can again receive an audience at full capacity under a number of circumstances. It contributes to the undivided feeling of cautious optimism that lives within the Sportpaleis Group today.
“This new phase in the further relaxation of the corona measures is of enormous importance for our sector and for our halls,” says Jan Van Esbroeck, CEO Sportpaleis Group. “It gives us the perspective we've been asking for for months. This does not completely end the crisis situation, but it is an important step towards the recovery of our sector. We are extremely pleased that we can once again receive our audience at the Sportpaleis. The last event before the corona crisis was a Reverze party. It is therefore very symbolic that the first event after the crisis will again be a (postponed) Reverze party.”
Events can continue according to 2 scenarios
"There are two scenarios on the table for the events in our halls. Which scenario is applied is a decision that lies with the organizer," explains Jan Van Esbroeck. "The first scenario is that with classic corona measures, such as wearing a mouth mask and For these events, we apply the principle of 'social distance seating', which means that a seat is kept free between each reservation. This approach has been applied since July in the Proximus Pop-Up Arena, our theaters and also last weekend at the K3 shows in the Lotto Arena."
The second possible scenario grants visitors access to the hall thanks to the Covid Safe Ticket. “We successfully applied this scenario for the first time at André Hazes' concert in the Proximus Pop-Up Arena. Visitors who have been fully vaccinated for at least two weeks, have tested negative or have recently recovered from an infection and can demonstrate this via the CovidSafe app, will be given access to the event. The event itself can then take place without distancing rules or mouth masks. This approach allows an event to receive more visitors (e.g. because of standing places) and thus break even faster or even become profitable." It is the responsibility of the visitor to conform to these safe regulations. The Sportpaleis Group can does not provide a test facility in any of its rooms for logistical reasons.
What does this mean in concrete terms for visitors?
Once the event organizer or promoter has chosen their scenario, ticket buyers will be notified by email. “We communicate frequently with our visitors. In all cases, they will receive a clear email a few days before their visit with instructions for a safe course. We also communicate via our social media channels and websites. An extensive online Help Center is also available for those who have questions,” says Jan Van Esbroeck.
We are pleased to finally announce the next events for all the halls of the Sportpaleis Group.
Sportpaleis Antwerpen The first event in the Sportpaleis will take place using the Covid Safe Ticket. It concerns 'Reverze 2021, Wake of the Warrior' on Saturday 18 September. The same goes for 'Moose Bar XXL' which takes place on Saturday 25 September as well as for the concerts of Elton John which remain scheduled for Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October.
Lotto Arena 'Discobaar A Mother' is the first event in the Lotto Arena on Friday 17 September to take place with the Covid Safe Ticket. 'Love For Music LIVE' on Saturday September 25 and Sunday September 26 also works under the Covid Safe Ticket scenario.
Vorst Nationaal No information is available for the time being about the conditions that will apply to The Bodyguard (25 September) and Christophe Maé (28 September). More news will follow later on the website of Forest National.
Trixxo Arena Hasselt Trixxo Arena has no events on the calendar in September. The Retro Kitsch Festival is the first event to take place on Saturday 9 October. In October, I Love The 90's and The Schlagerfestival (with Covid Safe Ticket) will also take place.
Stadsschouwburg Antwerpen The performances of the family musical Mamma Mia!, Peppa Pig Live! on September 18 and Will Tura on September 25 and October 1 will take place as planned with the classic corona measures.
Capitole Gent In September, all events in Capitole Gent will take place with the usual corona measures. Will Tura plays on Saturday 11 and Friday 17 September in Capitole Gent. Na de drie theaters van Sportpaleis Group opende het afgelopen weekend ook de eerste arena haar deuren. In de Lotto Arena vonden de laatste Belgische shows van K3 mét Klaasje plaats. De laatste aangekondigde versoepelingen betekenen dat ook het Sportpaleis, de grootste en meest bekende concertzaal van het land, opnieuw onder een aantal omstandigheden op volle capaciteit publiek kan ontvangen. Het draagt bij tot het onverdeeld gevoel van voorzichtig optimisme dat vandaag binnen de Sportpaleis Group leeft.
“Deze nieuwe fase in het verder versoepelen van de coronamaatregelen is voor onze sector en voor onze zalen van enorm belang”, vertelt Jan Van Esbroeck, CEO Sportpaleis Group. “Het biedt ons het perspectief waar we al maanden om vragen. Hiermee is deze crisissituatie nog niet helemaal van de baan, maar het is een belangrijke stap naar het herstel van onze sector. Wij zijn uitermate verheugd dat we ons publiek opnieuw in het Sportpaleis mogen ontvangen. Het laatste evenement voor de coronacrisis was een Reverze party. Het is dan ook erg symbolisch dat ook het eerste evenement na de crisis opnieuw een (uitgestelde) Reverze party zal zijn.”
Evenementen kunnen doorgaan volgens 2 scenario’s
"Er liggen voor de evenementen in onze zalen twee scenario's op tafel. Welk scenario wordt toegepast, is een beslissing die bij de organisator ligt”, licht Jan Van Esbroeck toe. “Het eerste scenario is dat met klassieke coronamaatregelen, zoals een mondmasker dragen en afstand houden. Voor deze evenementen passen we het principe van de ‘social distance seating’ toe, wat betekent dat tussen elke reservering een zitje wordt vrij gehouden. Deze aanpak wordt al sinds juli toegepast in de Proximus Pop-Up Arena, onze theaters en ook afgelopen weekend bij de K3 shows in de Lotto Arena."
Het tweede mogelijke scenario verleent bezoekers toegang tot de zaal dankzij het Covid Safe Ticket. “We hebben dit scenario voor de eerste keer met succes toegepast bij het concert van André Hazes in de Proximus Pop-Up Arena. Bezoekers die minstens twee weken volledig zijn ingeënt, negatief getest zijn of recent van een besmetting zijn genezen en dit via de CovidSafe app kunnen aantonen, krijgen toegang tot het evenement. Het evenement zelf kan dan plaatsvinden zonder afstandsregels of mondmaskers. Deze aanpak laat toe dat een evenement meer bezoekers (bv omwille van staanplaatsen) kan ontvangen en dus sneller break-even is of zelfs rendabel wordt." Het is de verantwoordelijkheid van de bezoeker om zich naar deze veilige regelgeving te conformeren. De Sportpaleis Group kan om logistieke redenen in geen van haar zalen een testmogelijkheid voorzien.
Wat betekent dit concreet voor bezoekers
Zodra de organisator of promotor van een evenement zijn scenario heeft gekozen, worden ticketkopers hiervan via e-mail op de hoogte gebracht. “Wij communiceren frequent met onze bezoekers. In alle gevallen krijgen zij enkele dagen voor hun bezoek een duidelijke mail met instructies voor een veilig verloop. Ook via onze sociale mediakanalen en websites worden gecommuniceerd. Er is ook een uitgebreid online Helpcenter beschikbaar voor wie vragen heeft”, aldus Jan Van Esbroeck.

In the summer of last year, Sportpaleis Group unfolded plans to build a temporary arena in Middelkerke. The developments of the corona virus called this project into question more than once. On Tuesday 11 May, the events sector got the long-awaited perspective. The predetermined maximum number of visitors are perfectly dimensioned for the capacity of this innovative hall concept. In July, the Proximus Pop-Up Arena will be able to receive up to 2,500 visitors with a mouth mask and a seat between each reservation. That number can be increased in August, taking into account additional measures.

Sportpaleis Group ontvouwde in de zomer van vorig jaar plannen om in Middelkerke een tijdelijke arena te bouwen. De ontwikkelingen van het coronavirus stelde dit project meer dan eens in vraag. Op dinsdag 11 mei kreeg de evenementensector het langverwachte perspectief. De vooropgestelde maximum aantallen bezoekers zijn perfect gedimensioneerd op de capaciteit van dit innovatieve zaalconcept. In juli zal de Proximus Pop-Up Arena tot maximaal 2.500 bezoekers kunnen ontvangen mét mondmasker en een stoel tussen elke reservering. In augustus kan dat aantal verhoogd worden, met inachtname van extra maatregelen.
“Het hele team achter onze arena’s en theaters staat in de startblokken om met enorm veel goesting aan de slag te gaan”, aldus Jan Van Esbroeck, CEO van de Sportpaleis Group. We gaan al onze expertise kunnen aanwenden om de bezoekers een heerlijke concertervaring aan te bieden.”
Publiek en artiesten snakken al ruim een jaar naar dit moment. Nu er zekerheid is over de Proximus Pop-Up Arena, merken we een fel verhoogde belangstelling van organisatoren voor dit zeer aantrekkelijke format: een concertlocatie die de sfeer van een festival combineert met het comfort van een arena. De kalender zal weldra worden aangevuld met extra concerten. Natalia bijt op donderdag 8 juli de spits af met de start van de concertreeks “A Symphonic Evening with”.
“Ik kijk er on-ge-loof-lijk hard naar uit om weer op een podium te staan. Dat is intussen al zolang geleden. Veel te lang, als je erover nadenkt. Dus de knaldrang is groot (lacht). Ik kan niet wachten om opnieuw live te spelen en dan nog wel met een symfonisch orkest! Dat wordt van de eerste tot de laatste noot genieten, ook voor het publiek dat al zolang op zijn honger zit. Nog even volhouden. Op 8 juli zorgen we voor een topavond in Middelkerke", belooft Natalia.

Ook burgemeester Jean-Marie Dedecker is verheugd over de aangekondigde versoepelingen: “De indrukwekkende concertkalender zal voor een groot stuk het ritme van ons fantastische zomeraanbod bepalen. Ik heb het de afgelopen weken al vaker gezegd: in Middelkerke kan je in de meest veilige omstandigheden genieten van de gezonde zeelucht. En dankzij de komst van de Proximus Pop-up Arena gaat die ademhalingsfrequentie ferm de lucht in gaan, want de mensen gaan naar adem snakken bij de optredens van de aangekondigde topartiesten.”

De Proximus Pop-Up Arena opent haar deuren voor het eerst begin juli 2021 en blijft hét concertcentrum van de kuststreek tot eind augustus.

Night of the Proms has been continuously on the program of the largest concert hall in Belgium since 1985. Because even after 35 years, the unique concept of classic and pop still fills full Sports Palaces. But this year, Night of the Proms will not be able to take place for the first time. The full tour in Germany and Luxembourg is also postponed by one year. “We had hoped for a long time, but now we actually had to make the decision of something that we had sensed with our minds for weeks, but for which our hearts were not yet ready. After our summery Proms in Koksijde, we also have to postpone Night of the Proms in Sportpaleis Antwerpen for a year. We were ready to announce our line-up and ticket sales were booming. But the safety of the public, our artists and crew comes first. And nobody wants to play in front of a half-empty hall because of the strict measures. ” says Jan Vereecke, CEO of organizer PSE Belgium and founding father of NotP. Tickets that have already been purchased before November 2020 will automatically be transferred to the new dates in 2021: Friday 19 and Saturday 20 November. Sinds 1985 staat Night of the Proms onafgebroken op het programma van de grootste concertzaal in België. Want ook na 35 jaar vult het unieke concept van klassiek en pop nog steeds volle Sportpaleizen. Maar dit jaar zal Night of the Proms voor het eerst niet kunnen doorgaan. Ook de volledige tour in Duitsland en Luxemburg wordt met één jaar uitgesteld.
“We hebben lang gehoopt, maar eigenlijk moesten we nu de knoop doorhakken van iets dat we al weken aanvoelden met ons verstand, maar waar ons hart nog niet klaar voor was. Na onze zomerse Proms in Koksijde moeten we ook Night of the Proms in Sportpaleis Antwerpen met een jaartje uitstellen. We waren klaar om onze line-up bekend te maken en de ticketverkoop liep als een trein. Maar de veiligheid van het publiek, onze artiesten en crew gaat voor alles. En voor een halflege zaal spelen vanwege de strikte maatregelen ziet niemand zitten.” aldus Jan Vereecke, CEO van organisator PSE Belgium en founding father van NotP.
Tickets die reeds aangekocht werden voor november 2020 worden automatisch overgeplaatst naar de nieuwe data in 2021: vrijdag 19 en zaterdag 20 november. Alle ticketkopers worden vandaag via Tele Ticket Service op de hoogte gebracht. Voor meer informatie: www.notp.com.
