Sylvester provides the 'cleanest' open air festival full of beauty during the opening weekend of the KSMKA

This moment has been anticipated for more than a decade. And finally it was time. After eleven years of construction, the reopening of the renovated Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp (KMSKA) was celebrated on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 September with an artistic festival. For a weekend, it was bustling with festive activities inside and outside the museum. Sylvester had the honor of being responsible for the production performance for the Opening Festival on the museum square.

While the doors of the KMSKA swung open again and the first visitors were introduced to the fantastic collection, the exceptional architecture and the renovated museum rooms, bells and trumpets started the free opening festival outside. For two days, young and old enjoyed the many surprising performances and the fascinating conversations on stage. The presenter trio of the weekend, Riadh Bahri, Kirsten Lemaire and Bieke Ilegems, were the perfect hosts of the Cleanest Opening Festival.

The list of performances and performances was nothing short of impressive. The orchestra La Passione, the 120-piece choir deCHORALE, the hip-hop dancers of Joffrey Anane, Tutti Fratelli, the Royal Ballet School Antwerp, Stef Kamil Carlens, 2manydj's, a 200-piece choir of children from the neighborhood schools, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, the Flemish Radio choir, the! Kunsthumaniora Contemporary Dance, Het Zesde Metaal,…: they were all on stage where, with the museum in the background, they gave the best of themselves. The artistic performances were interspersed with a procession of chat guests, including Prime Minister Jan Jambon, Mayor De Wever, KSMKA director Carmen Willems, TV maker Arnout Hauben and many more personalities from the art and culture world.

Putting all this together was an enormous production and logistical challenge. Sylvester managed everything in the right direction and made sure everything went smoothly so that the opening festival became a particularly clean party that emphasized the grandeur of the already world-renowned Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp.

Meer dan een decennium werd er naar dit moment toegeleefd. En eindelijk was het dan zover. Nadat het elf jaar in de steigers had gestaan, werd op zaterdag 24 en zondag 25 september de heropening van het vernieuwde Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten Antwerpen (KMSKA) gevierd met een kunstzinnig festival. Een weekend lang bruiste het van de feestelijke activiteiten binnen en buiten het museum. Sylvester had de eer om in te staan voor de productionele uitvoering voor het Openingsfestival op het museumplein.

Terwijl de deuren van het KMSKA weer openzwaaiden en de eerste bezoekers konden kennismaken met de fantastische collectie, de uitzonderlijke architectuur en de gerenoveerde museumzalen, trokken buiten klokken en trompetten het gratis openingsfestival op gang. Twee dagen lang genoot jong en oud van de vele verrassende optredens en de boeiende gesprekken op het podium. Het presentatortrio van het weekend, Riadh Bahri, Kirsten Lemaire en Bieke Ilegems, waren de perfecte hosts van het Schoonste Openingsfestival.

De lijst van optredens en opvoeringen was ronduit indrukwekkend. Het orkest La Passione, het 120-koppige koor deCHORALE, de hiphopdansers van Joffrey Anane, Tutti Fratelli, de Koninklijke Balletschool Antwerpen, Stef Kamil Carlens, 2manydj’s, een 200-koppig koor van kinderen uit de buurtscholen, het Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, het Vlaams Radiokoor, de! Kunsthumaniora Hedendaagse Dans, Het Zesde Metaal,… : allemaal stonden ze op het podium waar ze, met het museum op de achtergrond, het beste van zichzelf gaven. De artistieke performances werden afgewisseld met een stoet van praatgasten waaronder minister-president Jan Jambon, burgemeester De Wever, KSMKA-directeur Carmen Willems, tv-maker Arnout Hauben en nog veel meer persoonlijkheden uit de kunst- en cultuurwereld.

Dit alles mee op poten zetten was een enorme productionele en logistieke uitdaging. Sylvester leidde het geheel in goede banen en liet alles vlot verlopen zodat het openingsfestival een bijzonder schoon feest geworden is dat de grandeur van het nu al wereldvermaarde Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten Antwerpen extra in de verf zette.
