CenterStage: don't let your event content stop when your event is over

Your event is over. Why stop your video content there?

A conference, seminar, or corporate event might last one day. The content created there can retain value for weeks or months.

Organizations are investing significantly in professional video capture today. Keynotes are recorded, panel discussions are streamed, and interviews with speakers are produced for websites and social media.

But as soon as the event is over, much of that valuable content ends up as a collection of loose video files in a folder, on YouTube, or on a page that hardly anyone looks at anymore.

That is a missed opportunity.

From livestream to content platform

Livestreaming has meanwhile become an integral part of the event sector. In our view, the next step is not necessarily even more livestreaming, but rather a smarter approach to the content produced during an event.

A twenty-minute keynote can remain relevant even weeks after a conference. The same applies to a strong panel discussion, an interview with an expert, or a presentation in which new insights or research results are presented.

Why should we treat that content as something that only has value on the day of the event?

Based on this idea, 2 Stream developed CenterStage: an online environment where live broadcasts and on-demand video content centered around an event, organization, or content series come together.

More than a video player

A digital event platform does not have to be a collection of video windows.

Within CenterStage, an organizer can build a fully branded environment in their own corporate style, with various sessions, information and photos of speakers, chapters in longer videos, and interactive features.

During a broadcast, viewers can, for example, ask questions or participate in polls. But that interaction does not have to disappear as soon as the livestream stops.

Interaction remains interesting, even with on-demand content. For example, an organization that regularly publishes interviews or a video podcast with experts can allow viewers to submit questions. These can then be included in a subsequent episode.

In this way, an interaction is created between content, speakers, and audience.

Make the investment in video content pay off for longer.

Professional video capture represents a significant investment within an event budget. Cameras, direction, sound, lighting, and technical staff are deployed to produce high-quality content over the course of several hours.

It is therefore logical to also consider the lifespan of that investment.

A conference with ten content sessions does not just result in a one-day livestream. It can also produce ten separate videos that are published over the following weeks or months.

A keynote can become a separate episode. A panel discussion can be brought back to attention when the topic becomes relevant. Short excerpts can direct interested parties to the full session via LinkedIn and other social media.

The event day thus becomes the beginning of a content cycle instead of the end of it.

Freedom to choose your own production partner

An important principle at CenterStage is that the platform is separate from the audiovisual production.

Therefore, an organization does not necessarily have to have video capture performed by 2 Stream to use CenterStage.

An event can be recorded by an internal audiovisual service, an event agency, another AV partner, or by 2 Stream. For the livestream, too, the organizer is not required to use one specific supplier.

That is a conscious choice.

Technology should give an organizer more freedom, not less.

Data, privacy and control

The question of where data and video content end up is also becoming increasingly important.

Companies, federations, governments, and European organizations are taking a more critical look at privacy, data, and the technology on which their digital communication relies.

CenterStage was developed in Belgium and consciously opts for a European, GDPR-first approach.

Organizers determine for themselves how accessible their content is. Depending on the project, an environment can be publicly accessible, require registration, or be made available exclusively to a specific target group.

Moreover, viewer data, questions, and other information surrounding a broadcast can be analyzed and exported. In this way, video content generates not only reach but also insights.

Not only for events

The same philosophy can be applied to many other forms of video content.

Consider an organization that hosts webinars throughout the year. Instead of treating each webinar as a separate project, all broadcasts and recordings can come together in one recognizable environment.

The same applies to training, interviews, internal communication, and video podcasts.

Moreover, podcasts are increasingly being recorded professionally with multiple cameras. A single conversation results in a full video episode, an audio version, and various short clips for social media.

By also bringing the full episodes together on its own platform, an organization gradually builds its own video library and audience.

Turn your event into a content engine

Perhaps that is why we should also look at the ROI of audiovisual production differently.

Not just: how many people watched the livestream?

But also: how much relevant content have we produced? How many people view that content afterwards? Which topics generate the most interest? What questions does the audience ask? And how can we use that information for a next event, webinar, or episode?

A well-produced event can generate content for months in that way.

Audiovisual production thereby becomes not only a cost within the event budget, but an investment in an organization's broader communication strategy.
