River Ridge Ranch & Institute

River Ridge Ranch & Institute offers organisers and groups a distinctive outdoor setting in the foothills of California's southern Sierra Nevada. The 722-acre property combines protected natural landscapes, oak woodland, pasture and stretches of the Tule River, giving visitors plenty of space for time together away from a conventional event venue.

The ranch welcomes group retreats, meetings, getaways and photography sessions. Organisers can arrange exclusive use of a collection of camping areas and accommodation options for groups, with tent sites, small cabins, bunkhouses and a tiny house. Some sites sit close to the river, while others are tucked among trees or open pasture. The setting also offers walking routes, swimming spots, quiet places for reflection and opportunities to enjoy the night sky.

For gatherings that need shared facilities, the ranch has a group compound with a kitchen equipped for preparing and serving food, tables and chairs, toilets, an outdoor shower and a large fire pit. The available seating and dining arrangements can support sizeable groups, though organisers should confirm the layout and facilities needed for their specific plans. Food and drink are arranged by the group, so event planners can shape their own catering approach.

This is a nature-based venue suited to organisers looking for an informal, self-directed experience rather than a fully serviced hotel or function space. It can work for retreats, outdoor group meetings, camping trips and creative projects that benefit from privacy, fresh air and access to the landscape. Campsites and cabins can be booked through Hipcamp, while organisers can contact River Ridge directly with questions about programmes, events and visiting the ranch.
